【摘要】:ThisguideidentifiesU.S.,Canadianandotherinternationaltestmethodsusedintheprocessofdeterminingandevaluatingtextileandapparelcarelabelinstructioneffectivenessforpropertiessuchascolorfastness,susceptibilitytodamageduetoretainedbleachingagents,dimensionalstability,safeironingtemperaturesandappearanceretention(see1.5forexclusions).ThisguideisintendedforgeneralusebythosewhowishtocomparecarelabelevaluationmethodsoftheUnitedStateswiththoseofbothTheInternationalOrganizationforStandardization(ISO)andtheCanadianGeneralStandardsBoard(CGSB).TheinclusionofAATCC,ASTM,CGSB,andISOtestmethodsprovidesbroadreferenceinformation.ConsultspecificASTMtextilefabric,apparelandhomefurnishingperformancespecificationsforevaluationcriteria.4.4.1AlistingofallASTMtextileperformancespecificationsmaybefoundinVolumes,07.01and07.02oftheAnnualBookofASTMStandards.Thesetextilespecificationsareappropriateforapparelortextileproductsthathavenotbeenwetprocessedordyedaftertheproductwassewnintoitsfinalform.TheNationalStandardofCanada8212;CareLabellingofTextiles(CAN/CGSB-861-2003)includesperformancecriteriathatisusedintheevaluationofcareclaims,includingwrittenwordsorsymbols,identifiedongarmentsortextileproductsthatareofferedforsaleinCanada(seeAppendixX1).1.1ThisguidelistsgeneralhomelaunderingandcommercialdrycleaningtextilecareproceduresandtheassociatedASTM(AmericanSocietyforTestingandMaterials),AATCC(AmericanAssociationofTextileChemistsandColorists),CGSB(CanadianGeneralStandardsBoard),andISO(InternationalOrganizationforStandardization)standardsavailableforthetestingandevaluationoftextileproducts.1.2Thisguideidentifiesthenationalandinternationaltextileandappareltestmethodsavailabletomanufacturers,retailers,importers,testingorganizationsandotherrelatedparties.1.3Thisguideprovidesalistoftestmethodsthatcanbeusedbythereadertoevaluatethepropertiesoftextilesandapparelduringrefurbishing,textileandapparelcareinstructions;and,textileandapparelcarelabels.1.4Thisguideisnotintendedtobeusedintheestablishmentofperformancecriteria,butasaguideforproductdevelopmentandpurchasingcontracts.ThecountryofCanada,however,hassomeperformancecriteriacitedinTheNationalStandardofCanada-CareLabelingofTextilesinCAN/CGSB-86.1-2003(seeAppendixX1).1.5Thisguideisapplicabletotextileandapparelarticles;excludingupholsteryfabrics,mattresses,carpet,leather,fur,andyarns.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
