MIL-DTL-64159 (INTERIM AMENDMENT 1), DETAIL SPECIFICATION: COATING, WATER DISPERSIBLE ALIPHATIC POLYURETHANE, CHEMICAL AGENT RESISTANT (06 MAR 2007) [USE IN LIEU OF MIL-DTL-64159]., This specification covers water-dispersible, chemical agent resistant, aliphatic polyurethanecoatings for use as a finish coat on all military tactical equipment, which includes ground, aviation and relatedsupport assets. The materials are free of hazardous air pollutants (HAP-free), lead and chromate (hexavalentchromium) free, and have a maximum volatile organic compound (VOC) content of 220 g/l (1.8 lb/gal) aspackaged.

【摘要】:Theatmosphericexposuretestsdescribedinthispracticewillevaluatethestabilityoftheadhesivebondonlyintermsofaparticularnaturalatmosphere.Sincetheatmosphericconditionsvarygreatlyfromyeartoyear,theseresultswillnotbeasreproducibleasthosederivedfromlaboratoryagingprocedures.Considerableresearchhasshownthatlaboratoryartificialweatheringtestswillnotgiveconsistentlygoodcorrelationwithoutdoortestexposures(2,3,4).1.1Thispracticecoverstheprocedureforthedirectexposureofadhesivebondedjointsandstructurestonaturalatmosphericenvironments.1.2Theprocedureforshelteredatmosphericexposure,suchasaStevensonscreen(1),ofadhesive-bondedjointsandspecimensisthesameexceptfortherequirementsoffacingsouthandmeasurementofsolarradiation.1.3Thispracticeislimitedtotheprocedurebywhichsamplesareexposedanddoesnotcovertheteststhatmaybeusedtoevaluatetheeffectsofatmosphericexposureontheseadhesive-bondedjointsandstructures.Thesesamplescouldbeanyoneofseveralvarieties.1.3.1Acompletestructurefortest,1.3.2Asectionofastructurefortest,1.3.3Acompletestructureorsectionwithstrengthobservationsonspecimenscuttherefrom,1.3.4Testspecimensthemselves,or1.3.5Anyoftheabove,mountedunderstress.1.4Suitabletestmethodsforevaluationoftheeffectsofexposureincludenondestructivequalitativeorquantitativeobservationsonthesamesampleatprescribedintervals,ordestructivetestsonseparatesetsofspecimensinaccordancewithsuchtestsasTestMethodD1002.Note1-SeeTestMethodsD896andD897.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
